Blank Mode Games announced today that it has entered into an agreement to be acquired by Kellanova, previously a Kellogg Company. With 600 million monthly users, Blank Mode Games has set itself apart in the game space by using cutting-edge technology to create unimportant nonsense. As a part of the transition, Jazz vs Waffles, their most popular game, has been rebranded to Jazz vs Eggos, the popular waffle made by Kellanova.
The acquisition is an attempt to compete with competitor General Mills 1996 game Chex Quest (developed by Digital Café). Kellanova is acquiring Blank Mode Games and all existing IPs for 4.2 billion dollars, making it one of the most expensive video game acquisitions ever — though in an era where large companies are throwing around money for any AI product that no one actually understands, it’s actually quite a bargain.
The team behind the creation of Jazz vs Eggos will not stay with Blank Mode Games/Kellanova following the acquisition. “Of course we’re not staying” said Kim Galovich, Co-Founder & Chief Capitalism Officer of Blank Mode Games. “Do you know what $4.2 billion split 3 ways after taxes is? I’m moving to New Zealand and buying a sheep farm.”
In regards to how the recent Mars purchase of Kellanova will impact the Blank Mode Games acquisition, Galovich said, “Boris didn’t say anything about that.” When asked who Boris is: “The guy who brokered the transaction. I didn’t get his last name. We met him at a burrito place and gave him all of our code. His business card checks out though. Hope that check clears soon.”
In regards to what’s next for the three founders: “If that check clears, you’ll never hear from us again.”
